Building a Sustainable Food System for Oʻahu

A strong local food system is essential to a healthy, resilient Oʻahu. OER's Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems program is focused on increasing local food production, ensuring that more of what we eat is grown and produced here at home.

By strengthening our agricultural industry, we not only increase food security—we also honor our responsibility to care for the land, support local farmers and businesses, and create greater access to high-quality, Hawaiʻi-made products for residents and visitors.

OUR PROGRAM PARTNERS

We work with partners that support farmers, food producers, and the broader agricultural industry—helping connect them with federal and state funding and advancing solutions to food system challenges.

We look at the food system from start to finish—from production to food waste reduction—identifying and pursuing the biggest opportunities for improvement.

By taking action and putting the right programs and policies in place, we’re building a more sustainable, resilient food system for Oʻahu

A quarterly newsletter about food systems specific funding, events, opportunities, jobs, and more within Oʻahu and Hawaiʻi.

An opportunity to celebrate success and name challenges as a way to reflect on the reality and imagine the possibilities within Hawaiʻi’s important and unique food system.
